Svend Engelund

Flat fields and endless skies

The flat agricultural landscape of Vendsyssel, with open widths and endless sky, is a real Engelund-land. The fields are spread out in geometric forms, separated by ditches and windswept hedges.

The flatness, colour and geometry of this landscape was a constant source of inspiration for Svend Engelund (1908-2007). Here, he found a landscape that matched his urge to objectively depict the familiar. The landscape is what it proclaims to be, justlike Engelund's paintings.
