The hilly landscape of Vendsyssel

Poul Ekelund (1921-1976) moved to Vendsyssel in 1971 and spent the last years of his life in close contact with nature. Ekelund found inspiration for his expressive and colourful scenes in the hilly landscape surrounding Tornby.

For Ekelund observing nature became key and his landscape scenes were often painted on site whereby capturing the experience and atmosphere on the canvas. You experience this when you follow in the artist's footsteps to the hilly terrain surrounding Tornby and Bjergby.
